Abstract

The article provides an overview of the online round table “Contract Law in the Digital Age”, organized with the financial support of the Russian Science Foundation within the framework of the project “Conducting Initiative Research by Young Scientists” of the Presidential Program of Research Projects Implemented by Leading Scientists, Including Young Scientists, No. 23-78-01142 “Digitalization of contractual relations: architecture of the regulatory environment, legal traditions and innovations”, and took place on March 14, 2024 at the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation. The round table participants were represented by authoritative experts in the field of legal theory, information law, international law, family law, civil law, and international private law, which made it possible to comprehensively consider the problems faced by civil turnover in the context of digitalization of contractual relations. In particular, the problems of legal regulation of cross-border contractual relations complicated by the “digital element” were raised in the context of two main objective trends in the development of international private law: unification and self-regulation. Particular attention during the round table was paid to general issues of the development of contract law in the digital era: principles and methods of legal regulation, objects and subjects of contractual legal relations, responsibility for the proper functioning of digital systems when concluding remote contracts, etc. The reports on legal regulation aroused considerable interest certain types of transactions in the context of digitalization of public life.
